Panda Trains in China: names, differences and choosing a journey

A photograph or video of a Panda Train can be a starting point for a trip to China. The next step is finding the full train name. Different named trains have their own interiors, itineraries and arrangements. This guide helps you identify the product you are reading about and explore GOLDEN PANDA EXPRESS.

What does “Panda Train” mean?

Travel China, China’s official tourism website, describes Panda Train as a tourist-train service brand operated by China Railway Chengdu Group. Its September 2026 introduction covers Anyi, Shifang, Chengdu and Splendid Tianfu separately. The family name therefore needs a specific train name alongside it.

You may encounter 熊猫专列 in Chinese material and the broader expressions 熊猫火车 or 熊猫列车 in travel searches. A panda motif alone does not identify the room layout, facilities or itinerary. Keep the complete train name and the date of the material with any photograph or quotation you save.

Finding the Golden Panda train

The train presented on this website is GOLDEN PANDA EXPRESS. Its Chinese name is 锦绣东方号, also shortened to 锦绣东方. Earlier website materials used the transliteration Jinxiu Dongfang; Jinxiu Dong Fang is a spaced form of the same name. These spellings explain the connection between the Chinese and English names. GOLDEN PANDA EXPRESS remains the official English brand.

Our train guides introduce Panda and Han-inspired double suites, the Jingong and Jinyan dining carriages, and the Shaocheng and Yunque public spaces. The planned 2027 programme is a 16-day return journey from Chengdu through North and South Xinjiang. Routes, stops and train operations follow final railway instructions and formal confirmation.

Keep Chengdu, Tianfu and GOLDEN PANDA EXPRESS distinct

CRRC Chengdu published a launch announcement for Panda Train 3.0 · Chengdu in May 2025. Travel China also presents Chengdu and Splendid Tianfu as separate trains. Their names, photographs and descriptions should stay attached to the product each source actually covers.

When evaluating GOLDEN PANDA EXPRESS, return to its own suite, dining and route guides. Ask how sleeping arrangements work, which shared spaces are included and how excursions fit around train travel. Two itineraries mentioning Kashgar or Sayram Lake may still have different travel days, hotels, road transfers and sightseeing programmes.

Compare the journey you will actually take

Begin with your party size, preferred season and interests. Read the complete day-by-day programme, including nights on the train and in hotels, ground transfers, excursion timing and opportunities to rest. Then compare the suite arrangement and exactly which services a quotation includes. A useful shortlist answers practical questions about the whole journey.

For a GOLDEN PANDA EXPRESS enquiry, share your intended dates, number of guests, travel-document type and preferred language. The CTS sales team can use those details to check the applicable itinerary and service arrangements. If an English-speaking guide or another language service is important, request confirmation for the relevant parts of your trip.

Interior images on this website are labelled design visualisations. Check the information supplied for your departure when discussing the final configuration. Ask for written details of availability, the contracting and payment parties, inclusions and cancellation conditions before making a booking. A conversation with an advisor helps turn an initial idea into a specific travel proposal.
